A good exploratory software tester

A good exploratory software tester is the one who uses test cases only as a roadmap. Common impression about test cases to find defects were completely misunderstood. Following test cases is not bad but it's considered a clerical work, like performing inventory on a grocery store. Skilled tester is someone that considers himself a master of his own imagination with unique eyesight that views things in a 3 dimensional way. Many industries have the idea that test cases must be repeatable for reason that anyone can execute, neglecting the fact that most undetected software defects are coming from the practice of depending the entire quality to scripted testing.
